CHOCOLATE CARAMEL LAYER BARS

1 (18 oz) roll chocolate chip cookie dough
1 (11.5 oz) pkg milk chocolate chips
1 (18 oz) container caramel apple dip
3 cups crisp rice cereal
1 1/4 cups chopped peanuts or cashews

Preheat oven to 350. Break up cookie dough into ungreased 13x9 inch baking pan. With floured fingers, press evenly in bottom of pan to form crust. Bake for 15-28 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool 15 minutes.

Filling: Combine 1 cup chips and 1 cup dip. Cook over medium heat until melted and smooth, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in cereal and peanuts. Spread mixture over cooled crust.

In a small saucepan, combine remaining chips and dip. Coover over medium heat until melted and smooth, stirring constantly. Spread over cereal mixture and refrigerate at least 30 minutes before cutting into bars.
