CHOCOLATE CHIP CARAMEL BARS

1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter
24 caramels, unwrapped
1 can sweetened condensed milk
6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, combine first 3 ingredients; mix well. Cut in 3/4 cup butter until crumbley, reserving 1/2 cup crumb mixture; press remaining firmly on bottom of a greased 13x9 inch baking pan. Bake 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, melt caramel and sweetened condensed milk and remaining 1/4 cup butter in a saucepan. Pour over crust and top with reserved crumb mixture, chips and nuts. Bake for 20 minute sor unitl bubbly. Cool before cutting into bars. Store loosely covered at room temperature.
