CHOCOLATE LAYER BARS

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or mini chips
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup evaporate dmilk (5.3 oz can)
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 tsp almond extract
3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp Salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1/2 tsp almond extract
Combine first 3 ingredients in a saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Remove from heat; stir in nuts and 1/2 tsp almond extract. Blend well; set aside. Combine remaining ingredients in a large mixer. Blend well with mixer until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press half of mixture in a greased 13x9 inch baking pan. Spread with chocolate mixture. Sprinkle with rest of crumbs over filling; bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
