SMOKED SAUSAGE AND KRAUT

3-4 whole onions, sliced
2-3 tbsp butter
4-5 medium whole potatoes, cubed
3 lbs fully cooked bratwurst or kielbasa, sliced
1 1/2 lbs fresh kraut
2 cups white wine or chicken broth
2 tbsp packed brown sugar and cider or red wine vinegar
1 tsp oregano and crushed red pepper
1 bay leaf
3 tbsp Dijon mustard
4-5 clove garlic, minced
2 tsp black pepper and caraway seed

Saute onions in butter until tender. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer 35-40 minutes or until potatoes are tender and sausage is heated through. Discard bay leaf. Serves 4-6
