SAUCEPAN FUDGE CRACKLE COOKIES

1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup butter
3 oz unsweetened chocolate
1 cup + 3 tbsp sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Mix dry ingredients; set aside. Melt butter and chocolate in a saucepan, stirring until melted and smooth; cool. Stir in 1 cup sugar, and next 3 ingredients. Stir in dry mixture. Cover and chill 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until firm. Roll into balls, roll in remaining 3 tbsp sugar and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 300 for 18-20 minutes. Makes about 25 cookies
