CHERRY CHEESE DANISH FOR A CROWD

2 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tubes crescent-roll dough
1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

Glaze: Yolk of 1 egg beaten with 1 tsp water

Garnish: Confectioners sugar

Preheat oven to 350. Lightly butter a jelly-roll pan. In a medium bowl, mix first 4 ingredients until smooth. Unroll dough from 1 tube and place in middle of pan. Pat out with fingers, pressing perforation together, until dough completely covers bottom of pan. Warm in oven for 4 minutes until slightly dry to set bottom crust. Remove from over and cool slightly.

Spread cheese mixture over dough evenly to edges. Scatter cherries evenly over cheese. Unroll remaining crescent roll and separate into 8 triangles along perforations. Arrange triangles on top of cherries to make a rectangle with a cut in the middle to form a triangle (back and forth). This will not cover the surface completely; just be sure to space them out evenly. Brush triangles with glaze and bake for 30 minutes, or until top crust is golden and cheese mixture is set. Cool in pan on wire rack before dusting with confectioners sugar.
