SUGAR AND SPICE APPLE NUT CAKE

4 tbsp butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda and cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups apples, chopped
1/2 cup nuts

Cream butter and sugar; add egg, sift in dry ingredients. Add vanilla, nuts, and apples. Bake in 8 inch square pan for 35-40 minutes. Serve with topping of whipped cream or ice cream.
