CARAMELS

1 cup butter
2 1/4 cup brown sugar
dash salt
1 cup Karo white syrup
1 (15 oz) sweet condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla

Melt butter in sauce pan. Add sugar and salt. Stir in syrup and mix well. Gradually add milk.
Cook & stir over medium heat to a firm ball stage or 245 degrees. This takes around 12-15 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour into buttered square pan. Cool and cut into squares. Wrap in wax paper or plastic wrap.
