GARLIC BASIL CHICKEN (Crock pot)

8 large chicken thighs and drumsticks
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 medium bulb garlic, separated into cloves and peeled
1 (14 1/2 oz) can diced tomatoes with balsamic vinegar, basil and olive oil, undrained
1/2 cup chicken broth
2 (15 oz) cans great northern beans, rinsed and drained
Basil pesto
Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a skillet. Cook chicken in oil until brown on all sides; drain. Place chicken and garlic in the crock pot and pour tomatoes and broth over chicken. Cover and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours or until chicken is no longer pink when centers are cut.
Remove chicken for crock pot; keep warm. Skim fat from surface of juices in crock pot and stir in beans; cover and cook on low setting about 15 minutes or until heated through. Serve chicken with beans and pesto.
