MEDITERRANEAN STEAK AND PASTA SUPPER

1 lb sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
4 tsp olive oil, divided
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 medium green bell pepper, seeded and cut into thin strips
2 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup lightly packed fresh basil leaves, chopped
1 (15 oz) can ready-cut tomatoes and juice
2 tsp sugar
4 oz rotini pasta, cooked and drained
3 tbsp parmesan cheese
In a skillet, heat 2 tsp oil over medium heat. Add meat and brown; stirring to cook quickly, about 3 minutes. Remove meat from pan; drain and set aside. Using same skillet, add remaining 2 tbsp olive oil and sauté vegetables for about 3 minutes. Stir in garlic and basil, cook 1 minute. Add tomatoes with juice and sugar; bring to a boil. Cover; reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in pasta and meat; heat through. Sprinkle with cheese. Serve.
