SUMMER CREAM PIE

1 (9 inch) baked pie crust
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp almond extract
1 (8 oz) container whipped topping
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tbsp shortening
2 pints strawberries, stemmed
Fresh blueberries or blueberry pie filling
In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and almond extract until fluffy. Fold in whipped topping and spoon into pie crust. Chill.
Melt chocolate chips and shortening, stirring frequently. Dip the pointed ends of the strawberries in the chocolate to cover half the strawberry. Set on stem end of waxed paper. Chill until chocolate is set. Arrange dipped strawberries on the top of the chilled pie filling, leaving a 1/2 inch space around the outer edge of the pie. Place blueberries around the outer edge of the pie.
