GOURMET CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
2 1/2 flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
4 cups walnuts, coarsely chopped
3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375. Cream butter in a large bowl. Beat in sugar, a little at a time; beat until light. Stir in vanilla extract. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Stir in dry ingredients into batter. Add chips. Chill batter for 1 hour; drop by 1/4 cup measures, 3 inches apart on buttered cookie sheets. Bake for 12-15 minutes; cool on wire rack.
