3 oz sugar
12 oz water
2 oz dark rum
Seeds of 1 vanilla bean
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 tsp cornstarch
1 tbsp water

Combine first 5 ingredients; heat to boiling. Reduce heat for 1 minute. Combine cornstarch and water; stir into rum mixture. Heat to boiling; remove from heat. Let cool.
