YANKEE DOODLE NOODLE CASSEROLE

1 lb ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 medium onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1/4 tsp pepper
1 envelope spaghetti sauce mix
3 cups water
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1/2 tsp dried thyme, crushed
1 (8 oz) pkg medium or wide noodles, almost cooked through and drained
1 cup sour
1 (3 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 tbsp snipped parsley
Brown ground beef, garlic, onion and green pepper in a large skillet. Stir in pepper. Combine next 4 ingredients and stir into skillet. Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 325. Place 1/2 cooked noodles in a 3-quart casserole dish. Spread half of meat sauce over noodles. In another bowl, stir together cream cheese, 1/4 cup parmesan cheese and parsley. Spread 2/3rds of mixture over meat-sauce layer in baking dish. Spread remaining noodles over cheese layer. Completely cover top layer of noodles with remaining meat sauce then remaining cheese mixture. Sprinkle with remaining parmesan cheese. Bake about 30 minutes or until casserole is heated through. Serves 6-8
