APPLE PRALINE PIE I

2 crust piece crust

Filling
1 tsp cinnamon
4 tbsp sugar and brown sugar
2 tbsp corn syrup
1/8 tsp salt
2-4 Granny Smith apples (2 cups)
1 tbsp butter, chilled
2 tbsp cornstarch

Place 1 crust in pie pan and prebake for 8 minutes. Make filling by mixing together first 5 ingredients. Thinly slice apples and place evenly in pie pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon mixture. Cut butter into small pieces and place on top. Place top crust on pie and trim, allowing 1/4 inch of dough to hang over the edge of the pan. Press together top and bottom to seal and bake at 375 for 1 hour.

Praline topping
1/2 cup stick unsalted butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp whipping cream
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 450. Melt butter in a pan. Add brown sugar and stir until smooth. Add cream and heat to boiling. Remove from heat and add pecans. Carefully spread over top of baked pie. Bake pie for 5-8 minutes, or until topping is browned and bubbly. Serve pie warm with whipped cream and a dash of cinnamon. Store leftover pie in refrigerator.
