PESTO PALMIERS

1 sheet commercially prepared puff pastry, defrosted
3 tbsp pesto
3 tbsp grated parmesan or pecorino cheese

Preheat oven to 400. Roll pastry on a dry, floured board. Spread pesto and sprinkle cheese evenly onto sheet of pastry. Curl two longer edges up and roll inward to meet in the middle.

Dip fingers in water and lightly dampen pastry between two rolls, then press together along the seam. The pastry will not be a long rectangle. Cut it into 1/2 inch thick slices, and place them flat on an ungreased baking sheet (the slices will heart-shaped). Bake for 20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden. Serve immediately.
