PORK CHOPS AND ONIONS

1 tbsp salad oil
6 pork loin or rib chops
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 tbsp chopped parsley
1/2 tsp salt
1.4 tsp pepper, dried marjoram leaves and dried rubbed sage
2 medium onions, sliced
1 small lemon, thinly sliced
In a skillet, heat oil and cook chops, half at a time, until well browned on both sides, removing as they brown. Into dripping in the skillet, stir in next 8 ingredients. Add chops to mixture; top with onions and lemon slices. Over high heat, heat to boiling. Reduce to low; cover and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until chops are fork-tender. Spoon sauce over chops occasionally. Skim fate from liquid before serving.
