PORK CHOPS BAKED IN SOUR CREAM

4 (1/2 inch thick) pork chops
Flour, seasoned with salt and pepper
4 garlic cloves, slivered
1/2 cup water or chicken stock
1 bay leaf
2 tbsp vinegar
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 tsp savory, optional

Preheat oven to 350. Make several slits in the chops and place garlic sliver into the slits. Dredge chops in seasoned flour and shake off excess. Brown chops and place them in a baking dish.

Combine remaining ingredients and pour over meat. Bake, covered, for 1 hour.
