4TH OF JULY CHEESE SQUARES

3 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
1 pint strawberries, sliced
2 (8 oz) pkg refrigerated crescent rolls
1 quart strawberries, crushed and sweetened with sugar
Whipped topping

Preheat oven to 350. Beat cheese until light and fluffy. Add next 3 ingredients, beating thoroughly. Unroll one package crescent rolls; line ungreased 13x9 inch baking pan.

Spread berries over crescent roll and spoon cream cheese mixture evenly over top. Unroll second package of crescent roll and place evenly over top of cream cheese. Press edges to seal. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until crust is nearly brown. Cool on rack; cut into squares; spoon whipped topping and strawberries as garnish.
