APPLE WALNUT COBBLER

5 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples
3/4 cup walnuts, divided
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/3 cup milk, melted
Preheat oven to 325. Lightly grease a 2 quart square baking dish. Spread apples in the dish and sprinkle with 1/2 cup walnuts.
In a small bowl, stir together 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over apples. In a medium bowl, stir together flour 1/2 cup sugar, salt and baking powder.
In a small bowl, combine egg, milk and melted butter and then stir into flour mixture until smooth. Pour evenly over apples, sprinkle with remaining walnuts. Bake 50-55 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cut into squares, serve warm topped with ice cream or whipped topping.
