PEPPERED BEEF WITH PASTA

1 lb beef boneless sirloin steak, about 1/2 inch thick
1 tsp coarsely ground pepper
4 tbsp tomato paste
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tsp dried thyme leaves
2 medium red bell peppers
1 medium onion, chopped
4 cups hot cooked bow-tie pasta
Cut meat into 4 serving pieces. Rub both sides with pepper. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook beef 4 minutes on each side. Stir in remaining ingredients except pasta. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook uncovered about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is cooked to medium doneness. Serve sauce over beef and pasta. Serves 4
