1 cup butter, no substitute
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 tsp vanilla
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups chopped pecans
2 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted
Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter and gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla, sift together dry ingredients and gradually add to creamed mixture. Blend in nuts. Divide dough in half, add melted chocolate to one half. Spread white layer in bottom of a buttered 13x9 inch baking pan. Spread chocolate layer on top. Bake for 30 minutes and allow to cool in pan
Frosting
5 tbsp flour
1 cup milk, butter (no substitute) and sugar
2 tsp vanilla
In a saucepan, slowly blend flour and milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until thickened. Cool thoroughly. Cream last 3 ingredients in a bowl and gradually add cooled mixture and beat on high speed 5 minutes. Spread on cooled bars. Cut into bars and refrigerate.
