LEMON SQUARES

Crust
1 cup butter softened
2 2/3 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar

Combine above ingredients with a pastry blender until crumbly. Put into a 13x9 inch pan and pat down until smooth and compact. Bake crust at 350 for 20 minutes or until edges are brown.

Filling
4 eggs
1 1/2 cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
4 tbsp lemon juice

Mix above ingredients. Pour over baked crust and return to oven for 18 to 20 minutes or until filling is firm and not soupy. While hot, sprinkle confectioners sugar over bars. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
