OLD FASHIONED APPLE CRISP II

8 golden delicious apples, peeled, cored and cut 1/3 inch thick slices
3 tbsp plus 1 cup sugar
1 cup old-fashioned oats and flour
2 tsp ground cinnamon
3/4 cup unsalted butter
Vanilla ice cream

Preheat oven to 350. Butter a 13x9 inch baking pan. Combine apples with 3 tbsp sugar and toss to coat. Transfer to prepared baking dish. Combine remaining sugar, and next 3 ingredients in a medium bowl. Add butter and blend with fingertips until pea-sized clumps form. Spread over apples and bake until apples are tender, about 1hour. Serve warm with ice cream. Serves 8
