NUTTY APPLE CRISP

Category: Cobblers/Crumbles and Crisps

5 cups thinly sliced tart apples
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup flour and rolled oats
1 cup brown sugar
3/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Dash salt
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350. Toss apples with lemon juice and water in a shallow baking dish. Combine next 5 ingredients, mixing to blend. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix in nuts and crumble over apples to cover completely. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until top is lightly browned. Serve warm or at room temperature.
