BEER SOAKED BRATS

4 cups beer
1/4 cup Bavarian mustard
2 tbsp ketchup
4 large onions
12 uncooked bratwurst
6 hard rolls, halve and well buttered
In a large skilled, stir together first 3 ingredients. Cut 1 onion into thick slices and add to beer mixture. Bring mixture to a boil and add brats, uncovered, turning occasionally, 20 minutes.
Prepare grill. Remove brats from beer mixture, discard beer mixture. Cut remaining 3 onions into tick slices, keeping slices in tact. Grill brats and onions on an oiled rack set 5-6 inch over glowing coals, turning onions once, until brats are cook through and golden brown and onion are cooked through, about 5 minutes. Serve brats and onions in rolls along with pickles and mustard.
