SUGAR AND SPICE COOKIES

1 1/4 cups all-purpose baking mix, such as Bisquick
1/2 cup masa harina
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg

Combine Bisquick, masa harina, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg in a bowl. Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in egg. Add combined dry ingredients and mix well. Chill dough for 1 hour or until dough is firm.

Preheat oven to 375. Shape dough to form 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. Cool 2 minutes and remove from rack. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
