FRENCH POTATO GRATIN

Category: Au Gratin and Scalloped

2 1/4 lb potatoes, sliced thin
2 onions, sliced thin
1 1/2 tsp Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp pepper
1 finely chopped garlic
1 cups grated cheese (I like Fontina)
1 1/2 cups cream
2 tbsp butter

Heat the oven to 425. In a greased casserole dish. Alternate potatoes and onions in the dish and sprinkle with garlic, salt, pepper and cheese, continuing to layer. Pour on cream and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Drop over butter and bake until potatoes are tender, about 45 minutes. Serves 4-5
