PEPPERED BEEF PATTIES

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
2 tbsp grated onion
3/4 tsp dried whole marjoram
1/8 tsp Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tbsp plus 1 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
Vegetable shortening spray
1/2 cup water
1/2 tsp beef flavored bouillon granules
2 tsp cornstarch
2 shallots, minced
1 tsp butter, melted
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl; mixing well. Shape into 6 patties, about 1 1/2 inches thick. Sprinkle with pepper.

Add cooking spray to medium pan. Cook patties. Drain and transfer to a warm platter, keeping warm.

Combine water and bouillon to a small bowl; add cornstarch, mix well. Set aside.

Saute shallots in butter for 1 minute. Add wine and cook 1 minute, stirring frequently. Add reserved cornstarch mixture and Worcestershire sauce. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Spoon sauce over patties. Serves 6
