GRAHAM CRACKER-NUT TORTE

3 large eggs, separated
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped pecans
Combine egg yolks and next 6 ingredients, stirring well.

Beat egg whites at high speed with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form; fold into crumb mixture. Spoon into a greased and floured 9-inch pie plate.

Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm or cold with sweetened whipped cream, if desired.
