BRAISED COUNTRY STYLE RIBS

3 to 4 lb country style pork ribs
1/2 onion, sliced
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup whiskey / bourbon
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Heat oven to 350. Season ribs with salt and pepper. Place in a roasting pan and top with sliced onion.

In 2 quart saucepan, combine remaining ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until mixture comes to a full boil (5 to 8 minutes). Pour over ribs and turn ribs to coat on all sides.

Bake, turning ribs every 20 to 30 minutes for 2 to 2 1/2 hours or until ribs are fork tender. Remove ribs and skim fat from sauce. Serve sauce with ribs.
