SOUR CREAM NOODLE BAKE

1 lb pasta (I like elbow macaroni or cavatappi)
1 lb lean ground beef
1/4 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 tsp pepper
8 oz can of tomato sauce
16 oz sour cream (1 medium size container)
16 oz cottage cheese (1 medium size container)
1/2 cup chopped green onions or chives
16 oz cheddar cheese, grated (2 cups)

Cook pasta according to package directions in boiling salted water. Drain and set aside.

Brown the ground beef and drain any excess fat. Add the garlic salt, salt, pepper and tomato sauce. Simmer for five minutes.

Meanwhile, in a separate bowl combine the cottage cheese, sour cream, chopped onions and noodles.

Alternate layers of noodle mixture and meat mixture in a large casserole dish, beginning with noodles and ending with meat. Top with cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and browned.
