BANANA CHOCOLATE CAKE

2 1/4 cups cake flour
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
1/2 cup buttermilk
Grease a 13x9 inch pan, or two (9 inch) round cake pans. Sift together first four ingredients. Cream shortening with sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in melted chocolate and vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with mashed bananas and buttermilk.
Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes, cool. Frost with Chocolate cream cheese frosting.
Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting
4 tbsp softened margarine
4 oz softened cream cheese
Powdered sugar
2 oz bittersweet or semisweet baking chocolate, melted
Cream together margarine and cream cheese. Add melted chocolate. Add enough powdered sugar to be of spreading consistency. Ice top of 13x9 cake; use between layers, on top and sides of round layers.
