BARBECUED COUNTRY STYLE PORK RIBS

3 lb country-style ribs, cut into individual pieces
1 tsp salt
Pepper, to taste
Marinade
1 cup red wine and red wine vinegar
1 carrot, peeled and grated
1 small onion, peeled and stuck with 3 whole cloves
1/4 tsp thyme
2 clove garlic, minced
Combine ingredients for the marinade. Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper and place them in the marinade, uncovered, for 2 hours at room temperature or refrigerated overnight. Turn ribs occasionally.
Preheat oven to 450 for 15 minutes. Remove ribs from the marinade and place on a rack positioned over a roasting pan and cook for 10 minutes per side. Remove the pan from the oven and reduce heat to 350. Spoon marinade over ribs coating well. Return the pan to the oven. Every 10 minutes turn and baste the ribs. When the sauce forms a glaze, about 45 minutes, remove from oven and serve.
