2 cups water or burgundy wine
1 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 cup vinegar
2 bay leaves
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 medium onion, chopped
1 tsp dried thyme
2 stalks celery with leaves

Combine ingredients in a saucepan and simmer 10-15 minutes. Cool. Apply to meat and refrigerate for 2-48 hours. Note: If using a lean cut of beef, put a small amount of olive oil in marinade.
