CHOCOLATE NUT CRUNCH BARS

1/2 cup chopped nuts (choose your favorite)
1/2 cup butter, plus some for greasing pan
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
6 (1 oz) squares semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
Butter an 8-inch-square pan. Sprinkle the chopped nuts evenly over the buttered surface. In a heavy saucepan, melt butter. Add sugar & bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat & boil gently for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Pour carefully & evenly over the nuts in the pan. Sprinkle chopped chocolate on top. Cover pan for two minutes to allow the heat to soften the chocolate. When soft, spread it evenly over the candy. Chill until very firm. Remove from pan & cut into pieces. Makes about 1 pound.
