CROCK POT CHICKEN DINNER

1 (3 – 3 1/2 lb) whole frying chicken
1 envelope dry onion mushroom soup mix
1 tsp basil
1 cup water or dry white wine
4 large carrots, peeled and cut into 3 inch pieces
6 medium whole potatoes, peeled

Place chicken in crock pot. Pour sour mix over chicken and add basil and wine. Add vegetables. Cover and cook on high for 4-6 hours or on low 8-10 hours, or until chicken is easily removed from bones.

Remove chicken from crock pot and cut into serving pieces onto a serving platter. Add vegetables to platter.

To each cup of liquid left in crock pot, mix 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch and 1 tbsp water. Pour mixture into hot liquid in crock pot and continue to cook, stirring constantly until mixture thickens. Serve with chicken.
