HAMBALAYA CORN BREAD

1/2 cup chopped green pepper and green onions
3 tbsp butter
1 1/4 cups flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups buttermilk
1 cup diced fully cooked ham
1/3 lb bulk pork sausage, cook and drained
In a skillet, saute vegetables in butter until tender. Allow to cool.
In a bowl combine dry ingredients. In another bowl, combine eggs and buttermilk; stir in dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in meats and pepper mixture.
Transfer to a greased 9 inch square baking pan. Bake at 425 for 20-25 minutes. Serve warm. Refrigerate leftovers.
