Dr. Pepper Steak Marinade and Basting Sauce

Category: Marinades

1 cup Dr. Pepper soda (not diet)
1/4 cup dark soy sauce
1/4 cup lime juice
1 1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon hot sauce

Whisk together Dr. Pepper, soy sauce, lime
juice, vegetable oil, and hot sauce.
Place beef in a heavy-duty freezer zip-top
bag. Pour in marinade, squeeze out the air, seal tight, and refrigerate 8 to 12 hours.
Remove meat from marinade, reserving marinade. Boil marinade for at
least 5 minutes.

Preheat grill to med high heat.

Grill or roast meat to desired tenderness, using cooled marinade as a basting sauce.

Remove steak from grill, coat with butter and allow to rest for 5 minutes.

NOTES: This is also great for beef brisket, chuck roast, and grilled chicken.

Important - Do not use diet drinks. You need the sugar in the soda to make a proper BBQ sauce. Plus the NutraSweet in diet sodas breaks down under heat.
