Burgers Lafayette Steeping Sauce

1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 dash cayenne red pepper
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons margarine
1 Tbsp. lemon juice or 1 lemon sliced thin
Directions

Saute the onion (and lemon, if you choose to use it) in the margarine. Then add all the other ingredients. Simmer about 20 minutes. Then place the broiled hamburgers (or roast beef slices) in the pot or skillet and steep them in the sauce over very low heat. Serve with extra sauce spooned on top when you're ready
