Red Wine And Onion Sweet and Sour Brisket

1 tbsp oil
7 pound first cut brisket
2 tbsp chopped garlic
***Sauce***
1 small bottle ketchup
1 cup water
1/4 cup white vinegar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 packet dry onion soup mix
1/4 cup red wine
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper, to taste

In a large dutch oven, heat the oil. Sear the brisket on both sides, add garlic and cook until garlic is cooked but not browned.

Place brisket in crockpot. Mix all sauce ingredients in a small saucepan. When well mixed, and warmed, pour over brisket in crockpot. Cook covered on low approximately 7-8 hours or until done.
