Alcoholic - Sweet & Sour Cherry Sparkler

2oz Vodka
1oz lemon juice
1oz cherry simple syrup, Room Temp (Recipe Below)
club soda
fresh basil for garnish


1. In a small jam jar filled with ice, add the vodka, lemon juice and cherry simple syrup. Place lid on tight and shake.
2. Remove lid from jar and fill with club soda.

***Cherry Simple Syrup***
1 cup water
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup ripe cherries, pitted

1. In a small sauce pan heat the water, sugar and cherries until the sugar has completely melted.
2. Use a potato masher and smash the cherries. Strain through a fine mesh strainer and cool over an ice bath.

*Note*
If you are a flavored vodka drinker you may substitute vanilla, cherry or whipped cream vodka in place of traditional for a slightly sweeter drink.
