Pies - Apple Old-Fashioned
Category: Desserts, Cakes & Pies
1 package refrigerated pie crust
8 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples
1 Tbsp lemon juice
¾ cup sugar
2 Tbsp flour
¾ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp salt
4 Tbsp butter or margarine, cut into cubes
2 Tbsp milk
2 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1. Leave pie crust at room temp for at least 30 minutes. Unfold one crust and line bottom of a 9” pie plate.
2. Preheat oven to 425 F.
3. In a large bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, ¾ cup sugar, flour, ¾ tsp cinnamon, and salt, mixing lightly. Pour apple mixture into pie plate. Arrange cubes of butter over apples.
4. Unfold second pie crust. Place crust over apples and seal edges with fingers or tines of a fork.
5. Lightly brush milk on top of crust. In a small bowl, combine remaining sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle on top of pie. Cut 4-6 slits in top crust to allow steam to escape.
6. Place pie on cookie sheet and bake for 40-45 minutes or until pie is golden brown.
