Candy - Hard Tack

2 cups sugar
¾ cup corn syrup
1 cup water
¾ tsp food color
2 drams or to taste - Flavored oil extract (Cinnamon, Spearmint, etc)
*** 1 dram is equal to 1/8 of a fluid oz.



1. Mix sugar, corn syrup and water in saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until sugar is dissolved.
2. Stop stirring and continue to cook until thermometer reads 300-310 degrees to a hard crack.
3. Remove from heat and add color and flavor, stir.
4. Pour into an 8x11 pan lined with foil and sprinkled generously with confectioners’ sugar.
5. Cut when candy starts to set. Store in an airtight container.
