Cajun Boiled Peanuts (Crockpot)
Category: Recipes
1 lb. raw peanuts in shell
1 pkg. (3 oz.) dry crab boil (Zatarain's brand is best)
1/2 cup salt
1 Tbs. garlic powder
2 Tbs. Cajun seasoning
2 Tbs. red pepper flakes
8-10 cups of water
Put the raw peanuts in the Crockpot and cover with at least 8 cups of water (you may have to add in more over the cooking period to make sure the peanuts stay covered).
Add the salt, garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, and red pepper flakes and stir it all together.
Place the dry crab boil bag on top of the peanuts.
Cover and cook on low for 12-24 hours (24 hours is best so the flavor is nice and strong).
Feel free to reuse the seasoned water in the crock pot to make another batch. Just make sure to add a little more salt if it needs it, more water (approx. 2 cups more), and take out the crab boil bag so it doesn't fall apart, leaving you with the contents scattered throughout your pot. Also add a little bit more of each of the seasonings for good measure.
