Serves/Makes: 2.25 cups
Ready in: 30-60 minutes

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Combine the water, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and cayenne in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, for 20 minutes.

Combine the cornstarch and cold water in a small bowl and stir until smooth. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan and mix well. Stir constantly until the sauce begins to thicken, then reduce the heat to a very low simmer. Let cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

Remove the pan from the heat and let cool completely. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
