Homemade Tahini

Category: Appetizers and Dips

Tahini sometimes is hard to find and it is expensive, too.
I love using a spice grinder but you can also use a food processor. If you use tahini a lot, I would double this because it keeps a long time.

1/2 cup sesame seed, toasted and cooled

(you can buy the seeds toasted or toast them in a dry skillet for a few seconds) or you can
Place seeds on baking sheet and toast in a 350F oven for 20 minutes, or until the seeds are lightly roasted. Do not let them get too brown.

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 small pinch salt (optional)

Directions:

Place the sesame seeds in the bowl of a spice grinder. Pulse 6 to 8 times, until finely ground.

Add the olive oil and salt and process 30 to 40 seconds, or until a paste forms.

Store the tahini in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 months!
