Chicken Corn Chowder

2 tablespoon unsalted butter or 2 tablespoons olive oil
2 ribs of celery, chopped
1 carrot, grated or finely chopped
1 small red or yellow bell pepper, chopped
1 jalapeno pepper. seeds amd membrane removed (optional)
3 cloves garlic, smashed
1/4 cup chopped ham or 5 slices bacon fried crispy and crumbled
6 cups low sodium chicken broth
3 tablespoons flour
1 pound bag of frozen corn
2 cups of peeled and diced potatoes.
2 large cooked chicken breast, cut into bite size pieces.
4 oz cream cheese
1 c half and half
1 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Saute in butter the celery, bell pepper, onion and hot pepper.
Stir in garlic, ham or bacon
Whisk together,cold or room temperature, chicken broth and flour.
Stir into soup
Add the corn, reduce heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender.
Add the cooked chicken and simmer 5 minutes.
add the cream cheese, half and half and cheese.
