Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients

12 large cabbage leaves
1 1/4 pound of lean ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 onion chopped
1 large egg beaten
1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1 cup cooked rice
2 tablespoons oil
2 (8oz) cans tomato sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder


Cover leaves with boiling water amd let stand until soft, about 5 minutes

Combine the next 7 ingredients
Place equal amount of meat mixture onto each leaf.
Roll up and fasten with a toothpick.
Pour oil into a pan and brown the rolls evenly on all sides.
Pour in the sauce.
Stir in the sugar, water, and lemon juice, bay leaf, garlic powder and basil.
Simmer 1 hour or put in oven and bake 1 hour covered at 350.
