1/2 c sugar
1/2 c butter
1/2 c dark corn syrup
1/2 c brewed coffee
(Combine in large saucepan and bring to a boil stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer 5 min. set aside to cool)
3 1/4 c flour
1 1/2 teas baking soda
1/2 teas cinn
1/4 teas salt
1/8 teas nutmeg
Sift together set aside
1/2 c candied cheeries
1 c raisins
1/2 c chopped walnuts
(Grind the cheeries, raisins and walnuts
Put about 1 cup of the flour mixture into fruit mixture and mix together and set aside)
2 eggs
1/2 to 1 teas anise flavoring
1 teas anise seeds (if you have them)
(add the eggs to the cooled coffee
mixture and add the anise flavoring. Mix well by hand. Stir in the flour mixture and mix by hand. Add the nuts and fruit. Mix until well mixed. Will be very sticky.)
Refrigerate overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
With floured hands form 1 inch balls. Place on greased sheet about 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake in over for 15 to 18 min.
While the are still warm dip into glaze.
Glaze:
1 c sugar
1/2 c water
1/2 teas anise flavoring
1/4 teas cream of tarter
1/2 c powdered sugar
bring to a boil and cook until clear.
When mixture is lukewarm add a 1/2 c powdered sugar.
